The Saori Story — one of my favorite ways to weave!

I would LOVE to have looms to use for this… Hey, I do… My Cricket looms and Flips (assuming the folks are able to hold the shuttles)!!
Hmm… I wonder how I could get started offering FREE classes for mentally and/or physically handicapped kids and adults?? Anyone know???
Here’s what I’m talking about:
In Japan in the late [...]

Two newly woven scarves and St. Patty’s Day Greyhounds!

Yesterday my friend Penny and I went to downtown Greenville to walk our dogs. Downtown Greenville is a beautiful city with park which includes many walking paths etc.
The weather was sooo grand (sunny and mild temps) that there were oodles of people (and dogs) all over the place. Libby (my dog) and Vader [...]

Finished Table Runner – Woven on a Cricket Loom

Last week I taught a class on Rigid Heddle Weaving. Each student purchased 3/2 pearle cotton to use as both warp and weft for their table runners.
The goals of the class were to direct warp a rigid heddle loom, to use cash register tape to keep track of pattern and to weave both [...]

Scarf – a – Week! First scarf DONE!

I’ve taken Janet Dawson’s challenge…sorta…. I’m going to do a Scarf a Week. Janet is doing a Scarf a Day but with the Flip Loom placemats and Mighty Wolf dish towels… well, I just couldn’t keep up daily!!
Here, though, is my FIRST scarf in the challenge. I absolutely LOVE the “nubbly” textures. [...]

Kim’s most recent scarves

A fellow ‘Cricket-teer’ sent these photos to me (Thanks, Kim!!). Aren’t they purty!!
OH, notice the yellow scarf?? There is a story behind this BRIGHT, cheery scarf!! We (several of us have made them!) call these BRIGHT scarves our “happy scarves”. Whenever anyone of us Cricket-teers is feeling down [...]

Rag Placemats woven on 15″ Schacht Flip Loom

I am soooo excited about these placemats. I wasn’t sure how well they were going to work at first because it was hard packing the cloth weft into the warp. I didn’t beat it really hard so there was space between the weft shots BUT when wet finished, the placemats turned out beautifully!!
Here [...]

My student, Ann, really makes me a proud teacher!

Ann took my rigid heddle class 2 weeks ago. In the class we used 15″ Flip Looms and Crickets.
Since Ann absolutely LOVES scarves, she decided the Cricket is the perfect loom for her. WOW!! I have to agree!! Look at the scarves she’s already made. Ann said this about the scarf currently pictured [...]
